First time coming to this restaurant, and I have to say we were not disappointed. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. Everything was excellent.
I always have to remind myself that this is Guelph and it is not fair to rate based on comparasins with Montreal or New York. This is a nice little family restaurant. The food is fine. The servers are always pleasant. The atmosphere is, while a bit cheesy, cute and inviting. The menu has tons of choice so there is something for everyone. I have always had polite accomodations to any special requests I made. I always find it cold in there, but maybe that is me. As with many restaurants of this ilk, the wine list is pedestrian at best. A nice place to take your grandparents for dinner.
The atmosphere at this restaurant is really nice...but I continue to feel that the food is really just average and very salty...the service was pretty good...drinks very tasty too..but I find the meals just OK and I have tried many things from the menu. The stuffed sole was fairly good, but not outstanding and the special of the day - grouper was quite good they tell me. Will go again..but mainly because of the atmosphere..it is a nice place to relax.
Was here for dinner recently. I didn't enjoy my greek salad, there was far too much dressing in it, the lettuce was swimming! The main course Charbroiled Chicken was great, good size portions. I was disappointed with the service, the service was slow and our server seemed like they were in a bad mood. I was suprised they add the gratuity into your bill when you are in a large group, I guess they were afraid they would not get a tip otherwise.
Appetizers; the mozzarella sticks were undercooked and the bruschetta bread was assualted with garlic. It was almost impossible to eat it. The escargot was alright. The steak sandwich was cooked well, but this does not make up for tasteless fries and frozen veggies. Same goes for the striploin, however we ordered medium rare and got closer to well done. The spanakopita platter was clearly a fozen entrée. The salad on the plate was warm, and though we ordered no rice on the plate lots was found underneath the other items on the dish. The lasagna was boring and also clearly a frozen dish. Primavera is nothing to get excited about. The salmon however was quite nice but comlimented once again by a heaping pile of bland frozen veggies. The chocolate tower and chocolate explosion are HUGE portions and very nice desserts. The caramel sauce on the creme caramel (custard)was watery and the custard was disgusting. All together the atmosphere is alright. The decor is all over the map as far as themes go. Overall the server was nice, but near the end of the meal he was difficult to track down. We actually waved the credit card in the air to get our bill! All in all, not the greatest experience but am willing to go back and try something different from the menu.
